A mountain hut for eating and playing in the Trudner Horn nature park, at about 1,250 m. Next to the hut there's a little playground and a pond (pack spare clothes!), plus meadows to run around on. And animals: when we were there, cats, dogs, turkeys and chickens were wandering about. The menu is seasonal South Tyrolean dishes and classic hut food, with homemade cakes. With a stroller, start in the village of Trodena (Truden) (paid car park in the centre) and at the signposts stay left on the road, which turns into a forest road: about 1 hour each way and 160 m of climbing, steep to push but passable all the way. Trail no. 2 is prettier but not for strollers. Open all year, 9:30–18:00 according to its listing, closed Wednesdays (open daily July–September); in 2026 it's closed from 9 Nov to 18 Dec. Best to ring ahead: +39 0471 188 9832.
